Blinds can be made out of multiple types of materials which is what you need to consider when determining the method of cleaning. Remember that regular cleaning of the material and mechanism of the blinds will maintain the good quality of their look for the entire period of use, extend their lifespan and ensures proper function. Familiarize yourself with the manufacturer’s instructions on how to maintain our window shades before you start. However, there are a few tips you may need to keep in mind while cleaning fabric blinds.
Outdoor blinds that have not been washed and maintained for a long time may stop working properly over time. Frequently used, outdoor blinds get dirty accumulating dust. To prevent damage and scratches of the varnished surface, external roller blinds should be washed and maintained from time to time. However, be careful not to damage the blind meanwhile.
Don’t wash the blinds with a pressure washer !!! This can lead to its damage and malfunction.
To prevent damage to the outdoor blind, clean the blind with the Clean blind washer using generally available cleaning agents such as dishwashing liquids. Don’t use corrosive agents and all types of powders that may lead to scratches or paint discolouration of the blinds while washing.
First, rinse the Clean blind washer thoroughly with water mixed with detergent before you start. For this purpose, prepare a container with warm water and an appropriate amount of cleaning solution.
After initial cleaning of the outdoor roller blinds off the dirt and dust, you can proceed with fundamental cleaning.
Remember that before washing the outdoor blinds you need to make sure that the temperature outside doesn’t fall below zero. Cleaning the outdoor blinds in autumn and winter time when the temperature is below or around zero may cause the water in gaps to freeze and the roller shutter curtain to perforate, resulting in its damage and malfunctions.
When washing the blind, don’t forget to clean the side guides of the outdoor blinds inside, which is where the roller shutter curtain moves. Brush seals inside the roller shutter guides should be soft, without dust and objects that may jeopardize the proper and free falling or lifting of the blind. For better preservation of the brush seals, you can lubricate them from time to time with e.g. silicone spray.
You can also grease the bottom rubber gasket of the shutter that comes into contact with the ground. Especially in winter time, it can prevent the blind from freezing to the ground or window sill. Before taking the blind down, you should remove snow from the window will or ground to prevent the outdoor blinds from freezing
It is also good to grease curtain that comes into contact with the ground. Especially in winter, it can prevent the blind from getting frozen to the ground or window sill. Of course, before lowering the blind, remove the snow from the windowsill or the ground to prevent the blinds from getting frozen to the ground. During lubrication and maintenance of the blind in winter, don’t use lubricants containing water.
