We're all guilty - or how the accessory shopping frenzy is bringing chaos into our homes

We're all familiar with the feeling of being overwhelmed by clutter and disorder, whether it's a pile of dirty dishes in the sink, a wardrobe overflowing with clothes, or the shelves bending under the weight of decorations and accessories, or a shed strewn with possessions. It can be frustrating and stressful when you feel like you're constantly battling with your own clutter.

But have you ever thought about the fact that this clutter can create itself? It sounds like a strange concept, but there is some truth to it.

Clutter can be a symptom of bigger problems, such as poor organizational skills or procrastination or a lack of resilience to the advertisements and super opportunities attacking you from all sides. If you are constantly putting things off or don't have a system for keeping things in order, clutter can quickly accumulate.

As consumers, we can decide what we buy and how we use it. What's more, we can make a positive impact on the environment by choosing sustainable tools and items for the home. Cheap and Chinese cleaning tools often contain harmful chemicals and come in disposable plastic packaging, which can contribute to environmental problems such as pollution and depletion of natural resources.

The good news is that clutter can also be a catalyst for change. By recognizing clutter and its causes, you can take steps to address it and create a more organized and stress-free environment.

Here are some tips to help you tackle clutter:

  • Start small: Don't try to tackle everything at once. Start with one area or task and work from there.
  • Create a system: Develop a system for organizing your belongings and keeping things tidy. This could include labelling boxes or drawers, creating a cleaning schedule or introducing a 'one in, one out' rule for new purchases.
  • Get rid of what you don't need: Clutter is typically the result of holding on to things we no longer need or use. Take some time to tidy up and donate or sell items that are taking up space.
  • Take breaks: Fighting clutter can be overwhelming, so take breaks and reward yourself for your progress.
  • Choose green and sustainable cleaning tools: We can reduce our impact on the environment and support companies that are committed to sustainability. While switching to high-end products may seem difficult at first, even small changes can make a big difference over time. With a little effort, we can all contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
  • And don't buy something you don't actually need. In the times we live in, we have to be a " picky" consumer, i.e., before you buy something inspired by a commercial on TV, an advert or a promotion in your favorite shop, ask yourself if you really need it.
  • Don't give in to short-term trends, think and plan for the long term. Such a strategy will allow you to use your resources rationally and reduce the accumulation of seasonal, one-off items in your home.

Remember that clutter doesn't have to do itself. With a little effort and determination, you can create a clean and organized environment that promotes your productivity and the wellbeing of the whole family.
